December 31, 2023

Finishing out the year with a 'ten minute table runner' just a few months early. I'll introduce it at the senior center next Tuesday. Here's the link: you may want to limit the volume πŸ’“

Two new pouches for Christmas ... for the little ones. Lined with light fabric to make things easy to see and find inside :)

December 16, 2023

A few more pillowcases for a friend's holiday gifts ... the blues are a cotton knit fabric ... good thing I still had ball point needles in the shop!

December 12, 2023

Found a cute pin cushion pattern online at this page: https://quiltingdigest.com/create-a-cute-pincushion-from-a-pie-tin/

I made them in a few sizes ... found tart pans on Amazon, and am recycling aluminum and plastic small "pie plates" from the local grocery's salad bar...

Now, what to do with all the waste left from cutting four 5" pinwheels into a 6" circle?

But at least I am using up remnant strips of batting for the mini-pie's stuffing!

December 5, 2023

I'm working on ROTC quilts for a friend's granddaughters ... will post photos on the home page when they are done.

November 14, 2023

Two little play quilts for our grand-niece and her Raggedy Ann dolly... Each quilt has a checkerboard back. The dolly quilt measures 21x22" and the child's play quilt measures 27x32". I found the fabric on Etsy.

November 11, 2023

I finished and delivered my nephew Joe's birthday quilt for his 60th. The scrappy remnant back was a challenge and has a few flaws, but I'm happy with the front

Update on the zipper: she was able to repair it with the video's help!

November 6, 2023

A friend just had a problem with her new zipper installed on her pouch ... after trimming to size, the head slipped off! I'll share this tutorial with her tomorrow.

I get my zippers from WAWAK.com. Low prices, high quality!

Busy this month making zipper pouches this month. Here is one with fabric using digitized metallic enhancements, inside and out.

July 20, 2024

I've been busy this month, making 20 pillow cases for family, half a dozen for friends, and a dozen or so for Boston Children's Hospital. I'll return again in the fall to making comfort quilts for the police and fire apparatus.

Two more police comfort quilts delivered today πŸ’™

May 18, 2023

I quilted it with yellow serpentine stiches horizontally, bound it with orange, and made a pillowcase as well.

May 16, 2023

Tough decision ... clump all the pages in the center, or spread them out on the quilt.  Easy answer: one side of each! Now to make the sandwich and quilt it!

April 22 2023

I started a twin size quilt for a friend's niece, using a book pages panel titled 'Dexter the Dinosaur learns his alphabet.' l've finished cutting and piecing the pages, framing each page with Henry Glass fabrics in rainbow colors, and if it were an infant quilt I'd consider it ready for quilting. But I'll need to add more width and length to make it a twin. I'll keep you posted~

April 15, 2023

And two pillowcases, one for Declan and one for his big sister Nora.

April 13 2023

I finished a great-grand-nephew quilt; this one is for Declan, and since it's a little late, and he's grown to be a little boy, I made it bigger (45" x 60"). Each side has a 27" x 42" panel with wide framing sashes. Quilting is serpentine stitch, done horizontally.

April 1, 2023

And two more police quilts ... one with a solid blue back, and one with a John Deere print.

March 24, 2023

Two more ambulance quilts delivered to the public safety building tonight.

March 15, 2023

The Ides of March

I took this day to make some quilted hearts to share kindness with strangers... Here are a few:

A special one for St. Patrick's Day

March 4, 2023

Today it snowed all day. I used the hours to make another comfort quilt for the fire department.

March 1, 2023

I started "Little Jack's" quilt ... he is just a few months old and will have a 'lovable, huggable, draggable, muddable, washable and dryable made with love quilt using some of the same fabrics as his Grampy Jack's quilt! Piecing is finished, quilting is finished, and binding is blue snowflakes.

John Deere blocks

This is the quilt folded; looks like a pillow.

February 20, 2023

I'm working on a new baby quilt for a grand-niece due this Spring.  The baby shower is in a few weeks, so I'll be busy with this one.  Finished the 'stitch and flip' back of pink strips set diagonally on 10" squares of Warm and Natural batting,  and am going to extend it to fit the cute bunny panel front this week, then put the pieces together.

UDATE: Here's a look at the back and front, bordered, quilted and bound ... just waiting for a label.

February 7, 2023

I finished Jack's quilt today and will deliver it to him tomorrow. Pretty Kitty approves πŸ˜‰

February 4, 2023

I did make two more ambulance quilts in early January but didn't open the page until today. Made some pillowcases later in the month for a friend's new home but didn't photograph them. I'll make some more later in February.

I'm working on a long lap quilt for my brother who has had brain surgery recently. Sneak peek of the fabric in his quilt is here;

I'll also be working up another baby girl quilt for another grand-niece due this Spring.
